As promised, I said I would get a post out about the MCSD: Azure 70-534 exam. Architecting Azure Solutions. I wanted to post something talking about the materials I used to prep for the exam, to hopefully help others get started studying and spend less time hunting for resources.
Video Series: Unfortunately, there isn't much available on Microsoft Virtual Academy for this exam, but there are some great tutorials on Channel 9. I found the following to be particularly helpful in my studying:
MCP Examp Prep: 70-534: Architecting Microsoft Azure Solutions: I liked this video cause it provides a good overview of the objectives of the exam.
Exam Prep: Exam 70-534: Architecting Azure Solutions: Another good overview that moves VERY quickly through the different topics on the objective list. A great overview to get started.
TechNet Radio Part 1 Exam Jump Start 70-534: Provides a more indepth discussion with the authors of the exam prep book.
TechNet Radio Part 2 Exam Jump Start 70-534:Provides a more indepth discussion with the authors of the exam prep book.
TechNet Radio Part 3 Exam Jump Start 70-534:Provides a more indepth discussion with the authors of the exam prep book.
Book: I know most people in our field don't like books. But when its comes to certification exams, I usually do like them. This book was pretty good. It was helpful because it gives a good overview of both portals. Which is something you need for the exam.
PLAYAROUND WITH AZURE Honestly, the best advice I can give is to get an azure account and start playing around with this stuff. If you watch any of the above videos they will say the same thing. You can't honestly expect to pass this exam if you haven't used any of the services. Microsoft makes it very easy to get an account so go out and use some of them to get a sense of how they work.
Thanks, and good luck!
